Haywards Heath hospital gives positive prognosis for LiGO lighting control

21 August 2014

Patients and staff at The Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath, West Sussex have responded positively following the installation of Open Technology’s intelligent lighting control system.

The LiGO system, coupled with the latest efficient LED light fixtures has dramatically reduced the amount of energy used to light the hospital’s corridors.

The challenge of encouraging people to switch lights off is now a thing of the past. Light switches have been replaced with intelligent sensors that monitor light levels, automatically controlling it in response to the available levels of daylight. For corridors without daylight, the lighting is set to the exact level specified by hospital staff for ensuring safety and comfort.

The testing of the emergency lighting is also performed by the LiGO system. Any fixture faults are automatically reported to the hospital’s maintenance team on site.

Building on this success, Open Technology has been asked to extend the LiGO system to cover patient areas throughout the hospital. The Trust has also announced plans to roll out LiGO across its portfolio.
