Seeing the light

23 May 2013

On 9 May The South Western Railway provided new lighting in the form of LED ‘luminaires’ at Sandhurst Station on behalf of First Great Western.

This is the first station to use only LED lighting and has drastically improved the station’s appearance for customers, as well as providing the added benefit of using 50% less lighting than previously used.

The project was managed by Network Rail Infrastructure Projects. First Great Western Facilities Manager Nick Crocker and Station Manager Mai Thurman were delighted with their new look station.

All alliance stations are to receive LED luminaires as and when their existing lights need to be renewed. Twenty of alliance’s stations already save energy by using the LiGO Intelligent Lighting System and the use of LED luminaires will improve energy reduction even further.
